I am not a big fan of spray cleaners and scouring powders..the are too caustic to my lungs and skin...The last time I bought a spray cleaner for the bathtub..I choked on the fumes..NOT GOOD!! So I went back to the drawing board! I have two new recipes that I can live with. They are more Eco Friendly and not expensive at all. I use the all purpose spray for lighter jobs..like counters and windows and appliances..and the scouring powder for heavier jobs like sinks tubs and toilets! ( I was told to NEVER use scouring powders in toilets..as the build up in the U trap turns to a cement like substance over time This is NOT THAT type of powder!!)
All Purpose Spray Cleaner
Recipe:
1 Litre of warm water
1/3 Cup White vinegar
1TBS Borax
1 tsp vegetable based liquid dish soap ( I use sunlight myself)
In A large one litre spray bottle pour in the 1/3 cup white vinegar and add the borax..shake until dissolved.
The add the liquid dish soap and top up with warm water.
This is good for any surface including mirrors and windows..but my TRUE secret side kick when using this on glass..is NEWSPAPER! Try it!!!
For Heavier jobs as mention above..here is how to make scouring powder!
1/2 Cup Borax
1&1/2 Cup Baking Soda
Mix thoroughly..put in a jar...punch a few holes in the top and LABEL!!
This is amazing stuff!!
Borax, also known as sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, is an important boron. compound, a mineral, and a salt of boric acid
New Video on how to make Laundry soap..fabric softener and scouring powder!

Borax is also AMAZING for getting rid of fleas out of carpet. Last summer we had a flea problem after one of our cats got out and under the porch. Mixed 1/2 borax 1/2 salt and put it down on the carpets, brushed it in, let it sit for about 12 hours and then vacuumed it up. No more fleas!
Thank You Tina!
What and AWESOME thing..Fleas are so DARNED hard to get rid of!!
